Foundation for Global Taxpayer Justice

A NGO bringing tax justice to the nations

Wages and salaries are not income

For too long people have viewed taxes on wages as an income tax. A true income tax is a tax on the profit from capital. When wages are completely taxed as income then the value of a person is non-existent since it treats the person as having no inherent capital value in their personhood. This devalues the human dignity of people and we have all just become modern day serfs. It is one of the greatest slight of hands in history moving people from medieval peasantry to modern day serfdom.

The Taxpayer Justice Initiative

1. Establish a global standard for taxable wages and salary

To help revive human dignity and our inherent worth we need to set a minimum standard for wages and salaries that are tax exempt. That standard should be 10% above the medium cost of living for a country or region within a country. This value is significantly higher than the current poverty standard in most countries.

For example a country that has a uniform standard of living at $100,000 would have the first $110,000 of wages or salary tax exempt.

2. Taxes on wages and salaries are to be limited to residents and not extended to citizens living abroad

There is dangerous trend developing to tax citizen's wages or salary no matter where they live and work. As more countries adopt these policies it will cause people to change citizenship or keep people from living and working abroad in a global community. The long term effect of these polices will keep different cultures isolated in geographic locations and propagate a form of cultural purity instead of letting culture flow across borders.

3. Stop taxation of gifts and charity as it destroys a compassionate society

The development of financial safety nets under government control has led to the actual punishment of people helping others because gifts and charity are increasingly being taxed. When people have the financial resources to help others we should not be taxing such generosity but encouraging it. Money should flow freely from person to person and not required to go through the state or other organizations.

4. Reverse the trend on taxing generational wealth as the best way to reduce long term poverty

Taxing inheritance that passes from one generation to the next has kept each generation in the cycle of full time work, mortgages and saving for retirement. When we allow homes and assets to pass from one generation to the next untaxed we will allow more income freedom to exist in society allowing people to build more wealth to pass to their children. As this continues more people will not need to have 40 hour work weeks which will relieve the stress on the job market as population rises.

5. Implement a value added tax (VAT) on stock and commodity trades to balance the loss of revenue from the reduction of other taxes

The reduction revenue for governments will be a great concern as we begin to restructure our tax polices more justly. Taxing stock and commodity trades will help balance this change in revenue. A simple 3% VAT on these type of transactions require greater movement in the price to overcome the VAT on the purchase thus reducing the volatility in the market and stabilizes retirement plans.

What Can You Do?

The best way for you to help support the foundation and establish a global framework for taxpayer justice is to vote for politicians who support the foundation's initiative and goals. You, the voters, must encourage political parties to support our initiatives and vote for those who do. Governments around the world must be pushed by their citizens to enact the Global Tax Justice Treaty.

Do not fear helping to change unjust tax systems in your country!

Government expenditure and the institutions supported by unjust taxes are outside the scope of serious debate if people are not willing to institute just tax policies.

Global Tax Justice Treaty

How It Works

The essence of this treaty will set the maximum tariff between the signatories at 3% with a 5% increase for each of the 5 initiatives listed above that a country is not adhering to. Let's say country A has implemented all 5 initiatives but country B has only implemented 3. Country A would be able to set their tariff at 13% but country B would be required to only have a 3% tariff.

Foundation's Goals

Encourage Just Tax Policy

Encourage just tax policy in nations around the world by helping nations write constitutions and laws that establish just taxes. We will work closely with legislatures and politicians to help implement the Taxpayer Justice Initiative that works best for each country.

Economic Crisis Support

We will provide expertise and help to nations to find solutions during economic downturns and crises without reverting to unjust tax policies.

Monitor Treaty Compliance

The foundation will monitor a nation's tax policies who have agreed to adopt the Global Tax Justice Treaty and publish the recommend tariffs countries should follow. We will work closely with governments when the foundation sees tax policies that are not as just as they should be and help implement necessary change.
